Millennium Place Recreational Facility
For this project we were asked to re-design the main reception desk of the multimillion dollar exercise and entertainment facility owned by the County of Strathcona. The original entrance was aesthetically unappealing and functioned poorly. In the design of the new reception the first goal was to clearly direct traffic to different service area. This was achieved through the use of color coded areas. The color areas also functioned as an aesthetic element that along with the form would connote a more contemporary environment with advanced resources for the public. Lastly we choose to warm up the reception area with a walnut veneer that would counteract the clinical settings of the rest of the space and suggest a more comfortable experience for the guests.
Due to a major budget overhaul for the facility the construction of the reception desk was placed on hold.
